Under the theme "Police. Racism. Colonial Order", the Colonial Continuities Oldenburg working group is exploring how racist patterns of thought have shaped the police. In November, it is holding two public events on the subject.
On Wednesday, 18 November, at 6 pm, Christoph Spieker will speak at the Oldenburg City Museum (Raiffeisenstraße 31) about Heinrich Bernhard Lankenau from Oldenburg, who became commander of the Order Police in Military District VI in 1939. Admission is free.
On Saturday, 28 November, an excursion from 1 pm to 5 pm will visit the Villa ten Hompel memorial site in Münster, then the headquarters of this Order Police. The focus will be on police violence under National Socialism and the continuities of the police into the Federal Republic. Cost: 10 euros plus travel. Registration by 18 November via info[at]koloniale-kontinuitaeten.de.
