As part of the “weltwärts” programme, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), young adults aged 18 to 28 from Ghana and Togo come to Germany as South-North volunteers for a one-year development volunteer service. They are committed members of our African member churches, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) and the Église Évangélique Presbytérienne du Togo (EEPT).
An Enrichment for Your Congregation or Organisation
Hosting a volunteer brings worldwide ecumenism into your community for a whole year. The young people bring their culture, their faith practice and new perspectives, and breathe fresh life into worship services, children’s and youth work, and everyday congregational life. The result is a lively exchange from which everyone involved benefits.
Who Can Become a Host Placement?
Suitable placements are non-profit organisations serving the common good, such as parishes, day-care centres, youth facilities or educational centres. Most important is a curiosity for intercultural encounter and global learning. Host placements need to be recognised as a placement under the German Federal Volunteer Service (Bundesfreiwilligendienst). If you do not yet have this recognition, we will gladly support you with the application.
You Are Not on Your Own
Bremen Mission provides educational support to volunteers and host placements throughout the year and covers costs including flights, visas, insurance and the volunteers’ pocket money. The host placement provides accommodation and meals and covers the costs of a local public transport ticket and a German language course.
Period: End of May 2027 to May 2028
