Dear friends of the North German Mission,today you are receiving the March 2026 issue of the Newsletter, which will be published by the North German Mission (NM). In the new newsletter, we highlight among other things a new exhibition commemorating the legacy and impact of anti-colonial movements in Bremen, provide information about two events organized by the AK Koloniale Kontinuitäten (Colonial Continuities Working Group) in Oldenburg, and remind you once again about the lecture on European used clothing exports to Ghana at the Überseemuseum Bremen. You can also read an article by our South-North volunteer Colette Boateng. You will also find general information from Ghana and Togo and, of course, we will introduce you to the current project in the “Project of the month” series. Collège Protestant in Tado / Togo Education is essential for development, and the Eglise Evangélique Presbytérienne du Togo (EEPT) operates secondary schools open to all students, including Christians, Muslims, and followers of traditional African religions. One such school is the Collège Protestant in Tado, a very poor and underserved community in the Moyen-Mono region. The school’s buildings have severely deteriorated due to years of tropical climate and humidity. Roofs are leaking, making classes during the rainy season nearly impossible. A temporary second building has been secured to accommodate students during upcoming roof repairs. Recent years have seen major progress in supporting girls’ education, as they are often disadvantaged due to school-related costs and household responsibilities. With help from the Inner Wheel Club Bodensee and the North German Mission, a program was launched that enables girls—and other vulnerable students—to attend school. As a result, enrollment now includes 111 girls and 101 boys. However, the increased number of students has intensified the shortage of washrooms, which quickly become unhygienic.
