Working with women in Ghana

Women play an active role in churches worldwide, yet many face economic and social hardship. In Ghana, the women’s ministry of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church supports them through programs aimed at strengthening women economically, socially, and spiritually.

Since 2024, Pastor Elizabeth Niboe-Wuasi has led this work, focusing especially on single mothers and widows. Through seminars, workshops, and practical assistance, women receive training to generate income, along with personal guidance and material support such as food, clothing, and medical help. Young mothers and school dropouts are among those who benefit.

A key project is a bakery run by widowed and divorced women. It produces bread and nutritious porridge mixes, providing both income and a contribution to healthier diets. Part of the profit supports the women directly, while the rest is reinvested in the project. Located on church grounds, the initiative also aims to expand its facilities to create administrative space and temporary shelter for women in crisis.
