Peki Seminary in Ghana

In Peki, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana runs a seminary for future church leaders, offering three-year programs in theology and church music. Led by Dr. Francis Yao Amaglo since 2020, the seminary enrolls 77 students, about one third of them women. Theology students study the Bible, dogmatics, preaching, and liturgy, alongside practical parish work and local languages. Music students focus on classical and church music, composition, choir leadership, and instruments, while also learning guitar, African dance, and pop music for practical performance experience.

Graduates earn the title of deacon, with further study leading to ordination as pastors. The seminary aims to prepare leaders capable of addressing challenges like poverty, environmental issues, and climate change. To support its operations, the seminary rents guest rooms and runs farmland where students work weekly, contributing to the budget while keeping part of the harvest. Recently, cocoa harvests have added another source of income.
