In the African culture, music and dance were not only an essential element of festivities and rituals, but also an important part of everyday life. This kind of music and dance was strange to the missionaries.
At an early stage, the missionaries intended to present the Bible to the Africans in their native language. To believe, to have a dialogue with God, this can only occur in the mother tongue.
In Ghana, there is a special weaving art: Kente-weaving. Strips woven out of cotton or silk are sewn together to form a “Kente-cloth”.
