Togo is preparing to adopt a National Strategy for the Promotion of Women’s Entrepreneurship (SNEF). The Ministry responsible for the advancement of women held a conference last month in Kpalimé to coordinate and finalize the plan.
The strategy aims to establish a framework for the sustainable support of women’s entrepreneurship. The SNEF seeks to foster a more inclusive and equitable business environment while strengthening women’s leadership roles in the entrepreneurial sector. “The SNEF is a new momentum for women’s entrepreneurship — one that promotes the creation of decent jobs, enhances women’s competitiveness, and contributes to fairer and more sustainable economic growth,” said Tyliolieb Lamboni from GIZ (the German Development Agency), which supports the initiative.
In recent years, the Togolese government has launched several initiatives to support women’s entrepreneurship through funding programs, training opportunities, and technical assistance. Among them is the Nana Tech Project, which aims to improve women’s access to digital technologies.
