On Sunday, October 5, 2025, the film “Togoland Projektionen” will be shown in Bremen's Neustadt district.

The 2023 film is a documentary that deals with the difficult legacy of colonialism in Togo. Director Jürgen Ellinghaus examines how people are confronted with their colonial past and what impact historical film footage has on the present. The film shows the expedition of the African explorer Hans Schomburgk before the First World War, who shot adventure and documentary films in the former German colony of Togo. The documentary combines historical footage with the reactions of today's Togolese viewers and encourages reflection on the colonial past.
