On Saturday 27 April from 1.30 p.m., the Bremen Übersee-Museum will be hosting a get-together to discuss the Carl Spiess Collection project.

 The staff of the Übersee-Museum are trying to make the "intertwined stories" of the objects in their museum more visible on many levels. In April, an international and interdisciplinary team will meet to work on a collection that Carl Spiess, a missionary of the North German Missionary Society (Bremen Mission), put together between 1892 and 1914 in the then German colony of Togo and the then British colony of the Gold Coast (now Ghana). Those involved in the project will present different perspectives on this research through guided tours, talks, activities and an art course.

The Übersee-Museum would also like to get in touch with people who live in Bremen, have roots in Ghana or Togo and are interested in finding out what could be done with the knowledge archive of the collections.

In addition, other facets of Togo and Ghana will also be offered on this day, such as music, culinary delights, games and an introduction to the Ewe language.
