People in difficult situations need support - prisoners, for example. The Eglise Evangélique Presbytérienne du Togo (EEPT) tries to help.

Pastor Kodzo Vouke-Woledzi heads the EEPT's Solidarity Department. Together with numerous volunteers he visits the prison in Lomé every month. Aside from providing counselling services and bible study, they try to support inmates of any faith with food, medicine and hygiene products such as soap.

Overall, the situation remains difficult. Numerous prisoners also report that they sometimes have to wait years for their charges. “That's why we are repeatedly asked to find lawyers and pay their fees,” reports Kodzo Vouke-Woledzi. “But we can't do that. It's beyond our financial means.”
