The Colonial Continuities Working Group invites you to a talk and discussion on Wednesday, 22 January 2025 at 6 pm in Oldenburg. Two experts from Togo and Wuppertal will be present.
To what extent does the image collection of the Bremen Mission allow a depiction of reality? What intentions did the people depicted have when they let themselves be photographed or filmed, either by force or voluntarily? Based on the photos and films, we will interpret the presumed intentions in the photographic creation process and describe the space "between the cultures". In doing so, we also approach the question of how the space between cultures is organised today.
Guest speaker:
Prof Dr Kokou Azamede, University of Lomé, Togo
Sabine Hübner, United Evangelical Mission, Wuppertal
