A new health centre has been opened in Alavanyo in the Volta Region. The clinic is situated in the immediate vicinity of the E.P. Technical Institute and will in future serve both the pupils of the vocational school and the people in the surrounding villages.

It complements the existing healthcare structures in the region and sustainably strengthens the local infrastructure.

The project was initiated and is supported by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, together with the local community in Alavanyo. The construction was made possible by a long-standing partnership with supporters in Germany, including the Weltladen in Detmold as well as a special initiative by the German member churches of the Bremen Mission, which was launched following a visit by church leaders. On 11th March 2026, representatives of the church, staff and students of the Technical Institute, local chiefs, and numerous members of the community came together to formally dedicate the clinic in a celebratory ceremony.

The new facility has been established in a region where access to medical care involves longer journeys for many people. The clinic will in future help to shorten these distances and make healthcare more accessible in everyday life. Medical equipment such as an ultrasound device and a modern microscope are on hand and ready for use.
