Racism has many faces – including within the church. People of Color experience everyday racism and institutional discrimination in the workplace. Can prejudices be dismantled? People of Color still rarely obtain leadership positions within churches. They are repeatedly subjected to racist remarks. People of Color are demanding greater representation in church bodies, and the church is beginning to respond. For pastoral counselor Égide Muziazia, the discriminatory insults led to personal withdrawal—but also to solidarity within the Catholic Diocese of Münster. Sarah Vecera works at the VEM mission organization. She publishes, hosts her own podcast, and leads anti-racism workshops. Nicolas Moumouni is an advisor for intercultural development in the Protestant North Church, and priest Uchenna Aba from Goch-Kessel now incorporates African traditions into his work as a Catholic pastor.
