The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Togo (EEPT) has elected Dr Yaovi Mawunya Nayo as the spiritual leader of the church during its 75th Synod in Kpalimé. He succeeds Rev. Dr Daniel Mawussi Akotia and will lead the EEPT over the coming four years. Bremen Mission Secretary General Heike Jakubeit was present at the Synod.
The election is regarded as a significant milestone for the church, as it is intended to pave the way for reconciliation, stability and a fresh start following internal conflicts. Dr Nayo received a clear majority of votes in the second round of voting and, immediately after his election, called for unity, prayer and shared commitment to the future of the church. He emphasised that his ministry would be marked by prayer, love and responsible leadership.
The joy of the Synod members following the election of Dr Yaovi Mawunya Nayo was clearly palpable. All members of the church share the hope for a renewal of the church community and, through it, a strengthening of their church.
